Are you up for an exciting new career opportunity? If so, you could be the candidate we are searching for to become our Staff Accountant. Rosboro is seeking a person to prepare and enter general ledger journal entries to help ensure accurate, timely, and properly coded financial transactions in support of monthly and year-end close. This position supports the Corporate Controller, Assistant Controller, and other staff with various accounting functions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine balance sheet account reconciliations and record related journal entries. Specific areas of responsibility will include AP, By-Products, Fixed Assets, and Payroll.
  • Preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting related to Rosboro Timber Acquisition activities, including but not limited to; depletion, timber sale rates, green sheets, and TSSA reconciliations.
  • Review and assist with goods received not invoiced tracking (AP & Freight).
  • Maintain fixed asset systems, including creating and tracking of CIP projects.
  • Assist with annual property tax filings and audits.
  • Document and respond to various government and association surveys.
  • Review and analyze purchase card expenditures to ensure accurate coding of expenses.
  • Perform account variance analysis to research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with and support internal teams to address accounting inquiries.
  • Key participant in year-end audit with external auditors and tax preparers by providing information and assistance where needed.

Skills & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline.
  • Minimum one (1) year of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or wood products.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with large ERP and/or computer-based accounting system.
  • Outstanding organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • Solid people skills. Must be a self-starter with a strong sense of initiative and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage high volume of activity with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work within various degrees of supervision, whether independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
